Tools: PowerPoint
Time in development: 7 days
My role: research, graphic design, development, format, present
Client: Pennsylvania Institute of Technology
Context: One of the selling points at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is completing programs in less time than most traditional colleges. Course work is condensed into 11 weeks terms with 4 terms a year. Because of this, most courses are extremely lecture heavy with no opportunities for student interaction to ensure all content is covered.
Challenges: The institute had set a college wide goal of increasing student engagement and active learning within their virtual, hybrid, and in-person courses. Based on a needs analysis, it was found that PTA130 struggled with more than just student engagement. Lecture PowerPoints were poorly designed, there were many inconsistencies between the syllabus and Canvas course, learners struggled to retain information, Canvas was used in a very limited manner, there were no learning goals, and objectives were poorly written and overabundant.
Solutions: This slide deck was developed to present to leadership all the parts completed of the redesign process.
Results: This slide deck was develop to present to leadership what the eLearning team had completed during the redesign process. Learning theories were used to justify suggestions and processes used to improve on the original areas of concern.
